2020-2021 Season Update

Happy Canada Day! We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe after an unprecedented start to 2020. We hope you are now adjusting to the new normal, and felt this was an appropriate time to update our league on the upcoming season.

At this time, there has been no clear direction or decision to what a 2020-2021 curling season will look like, when it will be allowed to start – if it will be allow to happen at all. In the coming weeks, the Nova Scotia Curling Association along with the Curling Canada and the Mayflower Curling Club will establish rules of play for the upcoming curling season. These new rules could include, but not limited to:

– Reduction of sheets in play to allow for social distancing (Mayflower would close sheets 2 and 4 to allow for a travel path to maintain 6-feet social distance)
– Only one sweeper allowed at all times, including in the house
– No pre-game hand shakes or after game socializing.

With the anticipated rules, the Loose Ends Curling League will open registration for the 2020-2021 season to current members (2019-2020 season players) on July 15th. We will open registration to the broader community on August 1st. At this time, we will only be registering 32 full members (and unlimited spare members). Any full member registrations after 32 will be placed on a wait list. If you plan to return for the 2020-2021 season, we ask that you register before August 1st to ensure your spot in the league. Payment will not be due until October 1st, 2020.

As the rules for curling in the upcoming season become more defined, we will keep the league updated. If you have any question regarding the upcoming season, please feel free to reach out to any of the executive members.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and enjoy the summer.
